Retro styling for new Porsche 911 Targa
The 991-generation Porsche 911 Targa will feature a number of retro-inspired stying cues
911 Targa is expected to be revealed at the LA motor show later this year
The Porsche 911 Targa is set to become the next version of the 991-generation 911 to be revealed, judging by the lack of camouflage on this prototype, which was caught pounding around the Nürburgring last week.
The pictures reveal a return to its roots for the design of the latest Targa. The B-pillars wrap over the roof and there is a retro-style removable glass panel in place of the sliding glass roof that was seen on the previous, 997-generation Targa. A convex rear screen, bespoke to the Targa, also features.
As with its predecessor, the 911 Targa is expected to be all-wheel drive only and take its 345bhp 3.4-litre and 395bhp 3.8-litre flat six engines from the 911 cabriolet on which it is based.
The new Targa is expected to make its public debut at the Los Angeles motor show in November, to avoid distracting from the launch of the new 911 Turbo and Turbo S and the 918 Spyder at the Frankfurt motor show in September.
